Book Collections Request a book

The Medical Library has a wide variety of print and electronic books.  We also provide a document delivery service to obtain books which we do not own. 

Overlake Hospital Medical Library Book Collections  Request a book

Sets of electronic book collections licensed by Overlake Hospital Medical Library:

  • MDConsult book collection  provides access to over 40 textbooks. Remote users require a one time registration to establish your login and password. 

  • OVID book collections OVID provides access to over 90 titles. You require a user name and password if you are using this resource outside of the Overlake Hospital network.
  • Statref book collections - This provides access to an online textbook collection. You require a user name and password if you are using this resource outside of the Overlake Hospital network.
  • Up to Date - The Up to Date database is only available in the Doctor's Lounge at Overlake Hospital.  UpToDate provides up to date medical information on over 7000 topics and includes a drug database.  
Sets of electronic book collections on the Internet:
  • NCBI Bookshelf  - The Bookshelf is a growing collection of biomedical books that can be searched directly by typing a concept into the search box.
  • Free Books4Doctors - This contains over 600 titles that are in full text and free to physicians.
  • Merck Medicus Medical Textbooks - registration is free but limited to US residents. You must register to review

Book catalogs

  • Worldcat provides access to a listing of most books published in the US.  You can browse or search this catalog to find out what medical and health resources exist.  
  • Amazon.com - Amazon.com offers a very large retail book catalog.
  • Google Books - Google has a special search engine to help you find books.  This is useful as a verification tool.
